A trip to the reef

We spent the last week in Palm Cove, Cairns. It was great to get away, relax and enjoy some time with the extended family. There were some rainy days but it forced us to have some down time. The great thing about Queensland is that it isn't freezing when it rains like in Sydney, rather it's still warm and balmy. We enjoyed many rounds of 'Settlers of Catan' and caught up on some movies whilst sprawled across the couches.

We squeezed in a few sunny days at the beach which is always good but the highlight for me (and everyone else) was definitely trekking out to the outer Great Barrier Reef. I've always loved getting salty in the ocean and there's no better place to snorkel in Australia. Experiencing the coral and tropical fish first hand in all its glory was a blast - an adventure that everyone should experience at least once in their lives!

Cairns you dig it?

Like many of you we have been enjoying the Easter long weekend. Currently blogging from Cairns, we both were lucky enough to snag 3 days leave between Easter and Anzac day giving us 10 days off total which is madness for this time of year. The weather hasn't been too crash hot so far but we got a day of blissful sun on Sunday, so we ventured out to Trinity Beach to soak up some rays. The beach has always been our favourite place and pastime so it was nice to be back in the heat, enjoying some sun, sand and salt water. This week is anticipated to include a trip to the reef, many games of Settlers of Catan, reading, relaxing and hopefully enjoying some sun. Hope you are all enjoying the Easter long weekend!

Monday Moods // Winter

Monday-Moods-14.4.14.jpg

I've been in denial lately. The weather here in Sydney has started to cool down significantly over the past week or two and as a person who wishes to live in Summer all year round, I've had to come to terms with the fact that our Sydney Summer is slowly but quickly fading away. I hate the cold and my ideal day would always consist of the beach in one way or another. However, with the end of daylight savings I now find myself pining over warm Summer evening strolls and ice cold lemonades. Today I have decided to put an end to it. I've decided to embrace this change in weather by curling up in my flannel pyjamas (which is one of the things I actually enjoy about Winter) with a blanket and tea and think about the things I enjoy that come with Winter. Maybe I've been a little dramatic, seeing as it is still only Autumn and Winter is a month away but putting this moodboard together has got me thinking baking, big scarves and rainy evenings in with a good movie. Leather boots, cashmere sweaters and hearty food. I think forests, rustic and shades of green and grey. And now let's not forget about hot chocolates and woollen socks!

Friday Finds

1. Recently discovered Mr Wolf - an amazing magazine full of Nordic design (to die for!), styling, articles, art and music.

2. I am constantly dreaming of Italy and stumbled across this blog which brought me back to summer time in Cinque Terre - beautiful hikes, ocean swims and the best peaches. Amazing!

3. I'm a sucker for great product packaging. See some beautiful designs here. My favourite is Lord & Berry.

4. Oh my! That's all I can say. Can't wait to try out this recipe.

5. In love with this wallpaper.

6. Pendant lights are so dreamy. Add this to my wishlist?

7. Summer has always been my preference over Winter but the one good thing about Winter is pulling out the flannies and snuggling up with a doona and good movie. As a fan of everything geometric, I couldn't go past this chambray quilt cover.

8. Have been wanting to visit this place for months and months! Perhaps this weekend!
